An air releasing valve is a safety device that removes air from the water pipe to prevent problems caused by the accumulation of gas and air in water piping systems. The vent valve or iron vent has a thermostatic function and is usually used to vent steam and air.

Generally, when transferring liquid in liquid transfer systems and fluid lines, some air or other gases are always accompanied with the fluid, and this accompanying air causes disturbances in the proper circulation of the fluid, corrosion of the equipment, the correct operation of the pumps or obstacles. When the system is completely full, it must be removed from the system immediately.

The main purpose of this air drain valve is to eliminate the air in the pipes and various components of the system in order to prevent problems such as pressure increase, system efficiency reduction, and water loss to be controlled.

The function and operation of the air discharge valve

Air vent valve has two main functions in pipeline systems. The first function of this valve is to release the air accumulated in the pipelines under pressure. This air accumulation occurs when the bubble cavity and gas have more energy to transport the bubble with the fluid flow. This valve is used to release air inside the pipelines. The second function of the Air vent valve is to return the air to the system when the pressure inside the pipe is low.

When the water system or plumbing starts working, air naturally collects in the pipes and system components.
The air releasing valve is automatically sensitive to the air pressure inside the system. This valve opens automatically when the air pressure increases to a level that causes control problems.
When the air vent valve is opened, the air is discharged from the pipes automatically and exits through the valve.
After deflating, the valve closes automatically to prevent air from re-entering the system.

Features and applications

Air vent valves are installed vertically above the pipeline. These industrial valves have an opening in the upper part for air entry and exit, and there is a float inside them. In the non-fluid state, the float is at the lowest point, allowing air to escape through the top orifice. As the liquid level inside the valve increases, the float rises and when it reaches the highest level, it blocks the air outlet and prevents the liquid fluid from leaving. After that, as more air accumulates, the float goes back down and the air is evacuated, then the float rises again and closes the orifice. This process is repeated continuously.

When the pipeline is empty or there is a pressure drop due to problems such as pump failure, the liquid fluid is transferred to the lower parts of the pipeline and a vacuum is created in the upper parts. This situation can be harmful at high pressures, but the presence of an air release valve in the pipeline prevents this problem.
