Pre Action Valve review

The pre-action valve in the pre-action extinguishing system is placed in the sprinkler network, air or nitrogen. This system is usually used in places where water causes damage to the occupied environment (such as the server room system). The flow of water into the pipe and sprinkler network is controlled by a control valve. The command to open this valve can be by detector, sprinkler or both of them.

According to this command, the name of this system will also change a little. These names are as follows:

  • Preaction – non interlock
  • Preaction – Single interlock
  • Preaction – Double interlock
Pre action valve, firefighting equipment, firefighting, firefighting, firefighting

The pre-actuator valve is an important element in fire alarm and suppression systems. These valves act as key components in fire alarm and fire extinguishing systems and typically automatically or manually send water or firefighting fluid pressure in various directions to hazardous areas (such as buildings, factories, and public places). These valves are used to control and regulate the flow of fire fighting liquid in the face of fire.

Features of the fire extinguisher valve include the following:

1. Manual and automatic control: Most of the fire pre-actuator valves have the ability to be manually controlled by people and automatically controlled by fire alarm systems.

2. Adjustable flow: These valves allow the flow of fire fighting liquid to be adjusted by firemen or control systems to provide the right flow to extinguish the fire.

3. Resistance to heat and pressure conditions: These valves must be resistant to heat and high pressure conditions in the face of fire.

4. Suitable structural materials: materials resistant to rust and corrosion are used to make fire extinguisher valves.

5. Types of valves: Fire pre-actuator valves may be designed as gate valves or butterfly valves, and choosing the right type depends on the system’s needs.

6. Compliance with standards: These valves must comply with standards and regulations related to fire alarm and extinguishing (such as NFPA 25).

7. Testability and maintainability: Some fire pre-actuator valves have features that are easy to test and maintain to ensure proper operation in the event of a fire.

Fire hydrants are very important in protecting buildings and places against fire.

In general, these valves help regulate fire water flow and control water pressure in fire extinguishing systems to provide the best performance when facing a fire.

Preaction-non interlock system

In this system, as its name suggests, there is no limit or clause to open it, and if the detector detects a fire or bursts the sprinkler and reduces the pressure of the piping network, the control valve will be opened. Somewhere water is harmful to the occupied environment and therefore we have chosen this system, but we don’t like to lose a lot of time after a fire, so we use this system, which is also known as the no-error system. Because even if our fire alarm system fails, it will still work after the sprinkler is activated. Of course, a maximum of 1000 sprinklers can be installed in this system.

Note: If pendent sprinklers are used in the pre-operator fire extinguishing system, the return bend must be used.

Preaction – Single interlock

The command to open the control valve will be sent by detecting the detector and sending a signal from the control panel of the notification system. The limit of such systems is 1000 sprinklers.

Preaction – Double interlock

In this system, the control valve will be opened by the sprinkler system and fire alarm. We will use this system in places where we don’t want the presence of an error in the fire identification to lead to the opening of the control valve. Confidence in this system is more than the other two systems. Due to the delay in system activation, 30% should be added to the area of the design area in this case. The gridded piping method is also not allowed in this method, just like the dry system. The pressure inside the piping network must be at least 0.5 bar or 7 psi, so that after the sprinkler bubble bursts, this pressure can remove the sprinkler cap from its place.
